Palm trees burning and fire truck on road. Lilac Fire of 2017

California may not experience the regular four seasons, but we are guaranteed to be hit with wildfire season. One of the wildfires our teams helped with the aftermath of was the Lilac fire that actually burned very close to home for us.

A few years back we were hit with the devastation of a fire that burned through acres of land and buildings included. The fire, which they are calling Lilac fire, did a lot of damage to people properties. When Lilac fire was close to out, it already had left us with a lot of damage. Our teams were out on jobs that whole following week doing everything they could to help the people who were left behind with destruction. It was a very sad time for many people but SERVPRO of North Vista/ San Marcos was there to assist every step of the way.

We come in to assess the damage and keep our customers updated every day.

We want to make your home look...

"Like it never even happened."®

SMOKE FACTS

Thomas Fire and Montecito Mudslides of 2018

8/10/2022 (Permalink)

Mudslides covering 101 freeway. 101 freeway is a muddy mess.

Storm teams activated. As SERVPRO of N. Vista/ San Marcos was finishing up work for the Ventura fire, the heavy rains hit. The rains in Santa Barbara were so heavy that it caused mud slides. All the burned, loose shrubs on land were easily being pushed down hills along with dirt. The homes that had survived the fire were now being taken out by mud slides. Just as we thought the crisis was over. Of course our crew members decided to stay longer to help. The only problem was the mud slides had shut down main and side roads. Our team was stuck in the hotel while the streets were being shut down left and right. All we could do was wait. Finally the storm stopped and the damage was done. Houses that we were working on were now gone. It was a very sad time for so many people, but SERVPRO of Escondido did not give up. Fire, Rain and mud cannot stop us. We found ways around the roads that were shut down and began work immediately. It is amazing to see how people come together during times of need. Our additional crew members drove 7+ hours to get to Santa Barbara, taking back routes and windy roads. It has been long working days for our crews that are up north, some are still there. We are so thankful here at SERVPRO of Escondido to have such hard working team members on our side!

Never Leave a Flame Unattended.

7/18/2022 (Permalink)

Kitchen stove burned from grease fire. Grease fires are scary.

Who knew cooking in your kitchen could turn into this? This tenant in Escondido was planning to have a peaceful dinner at the rental property before this situation occurred. It's important to always be prepared for the worst in the event that this happens. It can happen to anyone but there are ways you can be more prepared for it. Always keep clutter out of the kitchen. Wipe down all surfaces in the kitchen including floors and walls so there are no flammable spills or layers of film for the fire to catch onto easily. Keep baking soda in reach of the stove top to throw on any open flames. Baking soda cuts off the oxygen supply to a fire similar to a fire extinguisher. In the case the fire is not tameable immediately call your local fire department and evacuate the premises. Always use caution when cooking and if you do experience a disaster like this, SERVPRO of N. Vista/ San Marcos will be there to clean it up for you. (760)758-3454
