A Fire Burns Close To Us
Last week we were hit with the devastation of a fire that has burned all the way through today, Tuesday December 12, 2017. The fire, which they are calling Lilac fire, is 92% contained. Lilac fire may be close to out but has left us with a lot of damage. Our teams are already out on jobs this week doing everything we can to help the people who are left behind with destruction. It is a very sad time for some but SERVPRO of Escondido is here for you every step of the way. We will come in, assess the damage, and keep you updated every day. We want to make your home look Like It Never Even Happened.

As 2017 winds down we would like to take a moment and reflect on and celebrate the many, many, five star reviews we have received on Yelp this year. We had just around 25 reviews when the year started. We are now proud to announce that we have 58 reviews and all 58 of them are five star reviews. Our employees have been very proactive in requesting customers to leave us positive reviews and in turn our customers have been amazingly receptive to leaving them for us. Our customers have even taken the time to "shout out" specific employees in their reviews who went above and beyond to provide excellent customer service and our franchise began rewarding employees for being named in reviews. It has been a very positive year for Yelp reviews for us and we are hoping to receive even more reviews next year.

With Thanksgiving just passing and Christmas right around the corner we are in the thick of the Holiday season here at SERVPRO of North Vista/San Marcos. It also signals the end of the year for 2017. We want to take a moment and reflect on the year we have had. Some people have come, some people have gone, and some people have even come back. Through it all our team is stronger than it was in the beginning of the year and we are very thankful and appreciative of all of the effort that our team has put in to making this a successful year for us. We have been able to help thousands of customers and received somewhere around 50 fivestar reviews online from some of them. We took extreme pride in the services we provided for 2017 and it certainly shows. We are very excited to see what 2018 has in store for us.

Houston Will Rebuild
Home is where you make it.
Although it is difficult to try and find some positive news out of all of the devastation and tragedy that has occurred in Houston, we at SERVPRO of N.Vista/San Marcos do have some good news to share. All of our employees who traveled to Houston to help with the clean up efforts have now returned safe and sound. With open arms we want to welcome back Joe, Alex, Sebastian, and Junior. We are all very proud of all of you and happy to have you back. You all sacrificed your time with family and donated your blood, sweat, and tears to help those who truly needed it. The definition of hero is as follows: "a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities." If that is how a hero is defined then we are proud to say that we have four, real life heroes, working at SERVPRO of N.Vista/San Marcos.

It is a very busy & Exciting time at SERVPRO of N.Vista/San Marcos. It seems that our franchise and our family continues to grow and grow. We have added new crew chiefs, new estimators, and even new managers. Our vehicles have increased and thankfully for us our work volume has also increased. With any growth there are always expected growing pains but luckily for us, our entire staff has stepped up and we have been able to maintain our very high level of customer service and work quality. Our Yelp reviews have more than doubled in the last year and some of the comments customers have left for us have blown us away. The machine that is SERVPRO of N.Vista/San Marcos is running on all cylinders right now and we ecstatic about these exciting times in our franchise's history. So keep it up team! Let's roll on and roll out every single day and keep the momentum going.

We recently received an overwhelmingly nice Yelp review today from a customer that had a large flood in their home about a month ago. The customer was so very grateful for our service that they took the time to list and thank every single one of our employees who worked on their home. It was incredibly nice of them to not only take the time to leave us a review but also recognize every single employee.
So with that in mind, this blog is dedicated to all our customers who have taken the time to leave us an online review or refer us to a friend or drop off something for the staff to say thank you. We have had the pleasure of helping so many customers that have showed us their appreciation in one way or the other, so we in turn, would like to show our appreciation to them.

Today was a happy and sad day for SERVPRO of N.Vista/San Marcos. We held our monthyly all hands meeting, like we do every month. However one of the topics covered in the meeting today was announcing to everyone that after 10 years of service, Fernanada Robinson is leaving us. Fernanada is one of the longest standing employees our franchise has. She believes she can remember a time when there were only eight employees total, including her. Boy how things have changed over the past 10 years. It certainly shows, as we also took, our annual group photo, which is included below. We had to be sure to have Fernanada in it. Our franchise is now somewhere around 60 + total employees.
You will be missed Fernanada. Thank you for everything.
A Shout Out To Our Leader!
The attached picture is Joe all suited up on Easter Sunday. On a holiday, he was out there in the heat, crawling under a house, to help a customer.
This blog is dedicated to our fearless leader, our franchise's founding father, Jose Araya or just Joe, as everyone calls him.
Joe has been in the restoration industry for over 30 years! In 1991 he started a company called G.I Joe Carpet Cleaning. That business thrived and eventually lead him to owning and operating our N.Vista/San Marcos Franchise. Everything our franchise is today is because of Joe.
Joe spoke at our meeting earlier this week and told stories of growing up very poor in Costa Rica. He would plant seeds for banana plants and watch them grow so he could sell them while the other kids spent all day playing. It seems he has always had a mind for business and always been a hard worker.
Joe's spirit shines through everyday at our franchise. Every positive Yelp review we receive, and we receive a lot, Joe's spirit helped cause that. Every customer who is blown away by our high level of professionalism, that is Joe's work ethic & pride showing in a job well done.
Joe set the standard for our franchise and we want him to know we appreciate it. We take our reputation and his very serious. We won't let you down Joe.

Rain in San Diego Does Actually Occur
Tut tut it looks it rain....
Here at SERVPRO of N.Vista/San Marcos we are not strangers to the damage that can be caused by rain. Here's our recommendation for preventing what could become a huge headache because of rain. Have your roof inspected once a year!!
Far more can happen and go wrong then a couple of ugly water stains on your ceiling. If you don't catch the leak, it could begin to rot the frame of your home. When wood gets too wet and ultimately damaged by water, it has to be replaced. So basically what could start as a little bit of water from a little bit of rain can spread causing unnecessary and expensive water damage and/or eventually mold damage costing you much more than the price of a simple inspection.
This has been one of the wettest years San Diego has seen in over 50 years. Keep dry, keep safe, and inspect your roofs San Diego.
Flood Damage in Carlsbad Won't Ruin Christmas
Our first Google Review of 2017
The image below is our first Google Review for 2017. This was for a homeowner in Carlsbad, CA who experienced some flood damage on the Monday immediately following Thanksgiving. She took the time to write us a review because she was very fearful at the time of the flood that she would not be able to host her family for Christmas dinner. Luckily, our employees at SERVPRO of N.Vista/ San Marcos were able to throw on both our hard hats and our elf shoes and get her house all fixed up in time. She was very happy with the service and restoration services we provided (she actually told us we provided "Nordstrom level service") to her and we were very happy that we were able to help and her family spend Christmas together.
One of our New Year Resolutions is to receive more Google Reviews. So far 2017 is off to an amazing start.
